First established on this site in 1855, Bright & Hitchcocks grew to become the largest department store in regional Victoria by 1926. A constantly evolving icon of central Geelong, the building has played a key role in the city’s commercial and cultural life for generations.
Today, we’re developing a bold new vision for this historic site—one that honours its legacy while contributing to the ongoing revitalisation of central Geelong. This exciting transformation is part of our broader commitment to the city, which also includes the redevelopment of The Regent Theatre.
The Bright & Hitchcocks building spans three levels plus a basement, occupying a prominent corner at Moorabool Street and Little Malop Street, with a third frontage to Rock O’Cashel Lane and two adjoining strip shops along Moorabool Street. Its size, location, and heritage make it a unique opportunity in the heart of Geelong.
